Terms of Service

Last updated 21 October 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply when you use unitedsq.com, our online service forms, calculators and guides, and the USQ client portal (together, the “Website”). The Website is operated by United Square Pty Ltd (ABN 82 618 171 010), trading as USQ Accountants (“USQ”, “we”, “us”).

By using the Website you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it. If you use the Website on behalf of a business, trust or other entity, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for it.

2. Our services and your engagement

The Website lets you find out about our services, send us information and requests, and work with us online. Using the Website or submitting a form doesn't by itself make you our client or oblige us to act for you.

When we agree to act for you, we send you an engagement letter and proposal setting out the services, fees, period of engagement and each party's responsibilities, which you accept by digital signature. That engagement letter governs our services. If anything in these terms conflicts with it, the engagement letter applies.

Work is performed by USQ or by qualified professionals assigned by USQ. Taxation services are provided by WL Chin & Associates, Chartered Accountants, and bookkeeping may be provided by United Square Pty Ltd or by CT & CO. PLT, Chartered Accountants (Malaysia), as set out in your engagement letter.

3. General information only

Articles, guides, award summaries, calculators and other content on the Website are general information. They don't take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs, and they aren't tax, accounting, legal or financial product advice. Tax and employment rules change, and content reflects our understanding at the time it was written.

Calculator results (for example, pay and award calculations) are estimates based on the information you enter and the rates we have loaded. Check them against the official source, or ask us, before you rely on them.

Please contact us for advice about your own circumstances before acting on anything on the Website.

4. Information you give us

You are responsible for making sure the information and documents you give us — through forms, uploads, the client portal or otherwise — are complete, accurate and up to date, and that you are entitled to give us information about other people (such as your spouse, directors, beneficiaries or employees).

We rely on the information you provide. Under tax law you remain responsible for the accuracy of your returns and statements, including those we prepare and lodge for you, and for keeping the records the law requires.

We handle personal information, including tax file numbers, in line with our Privacy Policy.

5. Client portal accounts

  • Keep your sign-in details secure and don't share your account with anyone else.
  • Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account or if your contact details change.
  • We may act on instructions, approvals and documents given through your account as if they came from you, unless you have told us your account has been compromised.
  • We may limit, suspend or close portal access — for example, to protect your information, if these terms are breached, or when our engagement ends. Where we can, we'll let you know first and give you a reasonable chance to download your documents.

6. Electronic communications and signatures

You agree that we may communicate with you electronically, including by email, SMS, WhatsApp and the client portal, and that documents we send or make available electronically count as being given to you in writing.

Where you sign or approve a document electronically through the Website or a service we use, you agree that your electronic signature or approval is as binding as a handwritten signature, to the extent the law allows.

7. Fees and payments

We work on fixed-price agreements wherever we can, so you know the fee before work starts. Where the scope can't be defined in advance, we give an estimate based on hourly rates and tell you the time used before we bill. Work outside an agreed scope is quoted first, and starts only once you accept a change of service request.

Prices shown on the Website are a guide and may change; the fee for a service is the one in your accepted proposal. Government fees (such as ASIC fees) are passed on at cost unless stated otherwise. Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers on their own terms, and we don't store your full card details.

8. Acceptable use

When you use the Website, you must not:

  • break the law, or upload anything unlawful, misleading, or that you don't have the right to share;
  • try to access accounts, information or systems you aren't authorised to access;
  • upload viruses or harmful code, or interfere with the security or operation of the Website;
  • use automated tools to copy, scrape or overload the Website.

9. Intellectual property

The Website and its content — including text, guides, templates, tools, designs, logos and the USQ name — are owned by or licensed to USQ. You may view and print content for your own personal or internal business use. You can't copy, republish or commercially use it without our written permission. Documents we prepare for you under an engagement may be used for the purpose they were prepared for.

10. Third-party sites and services

The Website links to, and works with, services run by others — for example the ATO, ASIC, accounting and payroll software, payment providers and e-signature services. We aren't responsible for their content, availability or terms, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

11. Availability

We aim to keep the Website available and secure, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, including for maintenance. Please keep your own copies of important documents.

12. Our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can't be excluded.

Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss arising from your reliance on general information on the Website, from the Website being unavailable, or from information you provide being incomplete or inaccurate. Our liability for services is governed by your engagement letter or proposal.

Liability limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version, with the date it was last updated, is always on this page. If you keep using the Website after a change, the updated terms apply.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
